46" Gas F1 Tunnel 2011 build
« on: October 12, 2011, 05:17:43 pm »

Hi guys, been working on this for awhile.
Iv designed it from scratch with the help of a special friend who took the time out to help me with this, giving me pointers along the way.
Still got alot of work to do but the main construction is all finished now.
Powered by an RCMK 26cc,5.3hp,2 stroke she should move quite well and hopefully handle what ever i throw at it in terms of handling etc.alot of time and research has gone into this design and build but will find how good she once she hits the wetstuff.
All the hardware is HOR strut, rudder, servo mounts.
The servo is a 20kg,high torque 1/5 for steering,6kg standard MG servo for throttle
5amp UBEC powered by 11.1v,2100,25c Lipo
Iv 1ltr fuel bag
Prop is 7016 /3blade but am going to get some more props to test with
Still got to modify the strut & bracket then mount the stuffing tube in to the hull.
Still got to get some bits and pieces as i go along to complete the build once painted, which for now is what im concentrating on.
Hope you like :

Thats ok Daz, i didnt know if Bernard had your phone number or not. no I didnt give it him, as our database is , er "secure" and would not let any data out without asking that person first.

he didnt say what it was about, but thought best to let you know best way i could matey.

Shame you got rid of the zenoah engine  you had eh? could of been the "test plant" for this..........

No worries steve
I never had a zenoah, only had this engine
Much better engine than the zen from what iv read and been told.
The RCMK has 4 bearing crank compared to the 2 bearing crank in the zen
RCMK has 5.3hp,zen has just over 3hp
plus a couple of other advantages.
so to me this is the better, stronger engine

Hi guys
finished all the fibreglassing now, removed the foam from inside cockpit, cut the screen out and drilled out some big holes in the back of cockpit and in the front of the canopy to allow the air through.
Im gonna modify the strut and bracket so i can get the stuffing in and lined, also make a support for the stuffing.

Naive question Gaz, but, does the motor have a clutch or is it a case of start and go.

Sorry for seeming thick.

Your boat is brilliant F1 , I will be watching the build from here on. What kind of speed do you expect from it & do you have to have it insured, ?. I noticed that you are using a plastic clip to hold your tailpipe, just a suggestion, when I raced Karts ( many moons ago) we used a spring wrapped around the exhaust to hold it in place, never gave any trouble. before we did that all the fixed brackets used to break, I thought this might help. Thanks Mick
im hoping to be around the high 50mph to low 60's mph
The only thing im waiting for is the new topkit for the engine which will increase displacement 28.8cc,7.2 hp & 2.8lbs torque so will be able to swing a decent size prop to push it to see some real good speeds, but who knows till it gets on the water
This wil be my 1st gas iv run so got abit of learning to do aswell
Will get it stripped down today and hopefully make a start getting it ready for sealing up ok2

with an iv set up make sure affter you fill to get the aire out of the bag of thers eny gets in ther ive had the bag with an air bubble in as it sloshed around it got in the fuel line and kept spluttering the negine  :-))

best thing to use is a one way valve from just engines to bleed the aire out then conect to the fuel line

Best way to have the bag is have it tilted so the top of the bag is slightly higher then any air will go to the top, you are supposed to burp the bag to get the air out but you do still get some in there.Never fill the bag right up and when finished store the bag with a little fuel in or they go hard and are useless.
