Still doing great Hannah, shame youve run out of wood.
By the way when you are at Westbournes could you chase up my crystals for me?

Did you get your wood?

hi bigford i chose this model because i have always been interested in the search of the bismarck and the second world war history plus she is a beautiful ship.
I have been down westbourne model center the weekend I have got enough wood to finish my hull now and i have two weeks off of school now as it is the easter holidays so i am hoping to get hull planking finished will post some more pics soon. :) :) :D

Hi everyone, I have been busy the last 2 days and I alot closer to finishing the planking. I am going to build the rest of the bow and stern solid (bread and butter according to my dad) to make it stronger in case I hit anything hard. I hope you all enjoy the new pictures and I will post some more soon.

Hello everyone, I have been slaving away all week on the hull with my dad's help and I have finished planking the hull. The bow and stern was shaped using P40 paste to make them very strong and is covered with car body filler. I have started filling and sanding the rest of the hull but I don't like sanding much it is boring!! I hope you all like the pics.

hi there, Hannah is that from the Plans? Marvelous - its looking terrific - amazing!

You thought planking was bad, now all the sanding and filling.   Dont forget to wear a facemask to stop the dust and to protect the lungs ; Keep on building, look forward to more pics.

You're right, Hannah, filling and sanding, sanding and filling - it's mind-numbing. If only someone produced GRP hulls for all the ships we want to build at a price we could all afford......

Still, your "Ark" is looking good. Keep rubbing and, as John says, wear a mask - otherwise you'll never grow up to be a grumpy old *** like the rest of us!

looking great, well worth the effort, if its any consolation my son gets me to do the sanding as he finds it boring.

Well Done

Hi guys, I did tell Hannah to wear a mask on more than one occasion but would she listen, no. Perhaps now someone else has mentioned it she might listen to her GOG dad for a change.

Hannah
I worked in the building industry as a carpenter and joiner. A very dusty job. We did not wear a mask in those days because we didn't realize how dangerous it was.
Now I am in my late 50s I can walk maybe 50 yards without stopping to get my breath back on a good day but on bad day I am in a wheelchair. I also spend alot of time in hospital and have already died once, but been brought back.
I have to be on oygen at night.
I cannot lift any sort of weight including my boats. I have to have help for most things.
This is because I have emphesyma caused in part through breathing in wood, plaster and other types of dust over a number of years.
So please Hannah listen to your dad and one who knows and always wear a mask when sanding.
Keep up the good work.

Keep up the good work

It's looking lovely Hannah. Well done, I expect you are exited, now it looks like a proper boat.  ;D  Great.

Please wear a mask, even when you dust off those speckled trousers. It really is dangerous stuff, that filler and glass, to the last bit.

All the best from Ken in Newport.

Cheers....Ken

Hi, me and my dad have been working hard and the hull will be in primer tomorrow. I did take some more pics but we are having a problem downloading them onto the computer. I am pleased that most of the sanding is now finished. I will post some more pics very soon.
