I went down to scrape my boat this afternoon and saw this chap a little embarrassing in front of the main car park for all to see, the lifeboat was called out and returned as the tide came up an towed him off

Last time I saw a boat aground like this was at the mouth of the Deben in Suffolk back in 1984.  We found the crew in the pub necking pints and whisky chasers waiting for high tide.  Come 6.00 pm when the water was high enough to float her off they realised that they had walked along the sandbar to get to the pub and left the tender tied to the boat.  As it happened the local sea scouts were on the water and the crew was poured back on board and they proceeded to sea heading for "Europe".

It turns out his engine failed on the way out of the river so i guess he had to drop anchor before being dropped on the rocks.
