Hello everyone, Sebastian writing.
A new project is now in the early stages of planing. Either I will be making it on my own, or together with Kristofer whom I built the HMS Olympia with as a school project.

Update with pictures of the HMS Olympia will come shortly at the other topic.

This will be the second, a lot better and improved, submarines topic. She will probably also be a model of the Gotland Class.

More to come!

I've now decided to begin with the hull. The scale will be 1:50 of the Swedish submarine type Gotland Class.
Length 1,2 metres, beam 0,124 metres. If I find a pipe with the width of 0,124 metres...

In the previous submarine, HMS Olympia, we built our own pistontank.
But for this new submarine I'm thinking of making 2 ballast tank out of 2 of these:
One in the stern and one in the bow. Any thoughts, good or bad idea?

Cheers

Hi Sebastian,

How big are the pumps (litres)?
Will they hold pressure for at least 1 hour?

Used in the motor trade to fill gearboxes not very successful and not for use as a piston tank just my opinion O0

They are used to as Andy_K said, to "pump" oil out from engines.
0,5 litres each. And since they cost about 10euros each I doubt they have a good life length.
I agree, they wont be good to use. Will try to find something similar in plastic or make my own.

If the submarine weighs about 6-8kg, 15.4 pounds, and has this propeller:

And this motor:

Will it be bad, good, ideal? Feedback please!
And yes, 12V battery.

Cheers!

Thanks for the link.
The blueprints is very helpfull.
Will begin to sketch on my own blueprints during this week. Interesting choice of using metal as tube.

I've been painting some in MS Paint.
I have acces to better programs but I find Paint very helpfull during the early stages.

No measurements etc yet. And do note, this is only a sketch.
The "motor" wont be up there. And inside the tube there will be a piston.

Going to pick up some additional pvc-pipes and a pvc-board in the next coming week.
The really kind people at GPA-Plast and Carlsson & Möller have promised me some leftovers!
They are both companies who sponsored us with PVC pipes/boards and some good advices regarding how to use PVC-plastic properly during our first project too.
And I'm looking forward to meet them again!
Hopefully they'll have a 125mm Diameter x 900mm length pipe for me.

School is taking quite a lot of my time at the moment, even though we "only" have math courses at the moment. But I will try to start fabricating next weekend!
For those of you who wonder, I began studying Mechanical engineering in Lund this fall. So time to build is limited..
