Can Somebody do me a favour ?
« on: October 19, 2011, 09:36:05 pm »

I am trying to bring a Black and Decker Versapak VP940 Cordless drill back into service after years in storage.
The two nicad batteries have been charged successfully and seem to be holding their charge.

There is only one collet with the drill and it will only grip tools/drills with a 3mm shank.
So I am looking round to see if I could locate some replacement collets.
The B & D Versapak collet dimensions are : length 19.2mm, shank dia 4.2mm.

After a bit of research it seems that Dremel collets may fit.

The Favour :- Could somebody with a Dremel please measure a collet for me ?

Photo of the Versapak drill with my (much used) Powerbase Minidrill...

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks for the quick reply Dicky, but I was after the external dimensions of the collet
i.e. the length of the collet and the shank diameter - are they somewhere on the
website in which case I shall have a look a bit further...

I use some of the black and decker collets in my dremel with no problems. So long as the collet clamps the bit properly they should mostly be interchangable

Cheers Chaps!

Thanks for the info.

I shall order a set of Dremel collets along with the clamping collar.

If the collar fits then I am guessing that I could use a Dremel chuck.

Hi, Triumphjon, Just a quick question, where did you get the 3 jaw chuck & is it easy to fit ?. I just got a Dremel 4000 kit for my birthday & I am not up to speed yet. ( we use much larger tools in the auto industry, LOL.) Mick B.

I did a search on Google and found this...

http://www.toolchestdirect.com/browse.php/section/6759/level/4

There were quite a few hits for both the chuck and the collet set.

Thank you very much Ricard, it looks like a good addition to the Dremel tool. I hope it is available here, Mick B.

Mick - I don't know if this company would be any good for you - they do stock chucks and drills right through to K & S brass etc etc
based in UK but do export and there service in this country is next day delivery and I have found them very reliable

If its the versa pack with the battery a bit like a shot gun cart, the gold batterys are very good, NiMh., last forever, nearly, only available from the US I think
