scale figure from Pirate firms
« on: April 16, 2012, 02:57:07 pm »

having read the thread about figures from China I felt I had to have a rant. These are pirated Preiser figures. they maybe good value (not in my opinion) but they are taking money from a firm that produces excellent figures.
I produced figures (whitemetal and resin) for 10 years + for the Train modelling fraternity (rabble figures) but have recently given up because of wanting to spend more time modelling. If we allow China to do this than it will soon be like Hinckley where I live, once a thriving hosery town but now almost dead of hosery firms. ( and I thought 6 pairs of socks was a good deal at Asda)
How long before they start pirating kits?
rant over

That day has been and gone, knock off kits have been coming out of China for many years as well as Eastern Europe.  In fact, mentioning no names, several well known kit companies got a start that way.

I want to be able to talk to a supplier and get advice or reccommendations.
If it costs me a couple of quid extra I still think it is worth it.
