Hi everyone

I am getting well on building my first RC boat, and would like to build her with tinted windows, had a god look on the interweb and am struggling to find anything looking suitable, thought it would be easy to find tinted or smoked plasticard but no.

Any ideas?

Cheers Longshanks, cool site, but was hoping for a grey or black tint. Am hoping to get that luxury billionaire ambramovich look that hans out in monaco. (cant have a real one so why not do it in minature)

Or, print some window colours of your choice onto card and place inside the clear acetate windows

I tinted my windows with car window tint film, I just went to the local car window tinting company (used yellow pages) and gave the counter clerk a couple of quid for off cuts, they where probably going in the bin. He gave me a choice of colours and varying degrees of window tint film, which is sticky one side, dead easy to apply provided you use soapy water on the window. You could buy tinted plasticard, from ebay or local model/hobby store.

I tried painting, but you get an uneven paint distribution, or brush marks with a brush, this turned out quite good, I just wanted enough tint to hide the electronics as I did not do cabin detail. The windscreen is done with the same film, its the darknes of the cabin that makes it look darker, Hope that helps :-))

Cheers Red181 but am in Leeds west Yorks. but thanks for the offer, I have had a look on Ebay and it looks dear for the small amount what I need, I may do what you did and see if there is a local who would sell some off cuts, as the stuff on Ebay has either graded tint or is too dark, I want it to look classy like yours not tacky like a limo....

Have a look for Double glasing window unit manufacturers GJP, that's the Glasiers, not the frame makers (There's at least one in Leeds). The fancy "Leaded lights" in D/G units are a self adhesive film, some solid colurs and some transparent - offcuts.

Hello.

Clear Acetate sheet can be dyed to the colour of you choice using Dylon powder dyes.

It works, have used it on numerous occasions.

I know you are already sorted but for future reference Tamiya do a range of tint sprays.  I used the smoke on my King Hauler and it worked well :)
