well if you aim around that kind diameter prop then. Depending on weather your boat is suppose to be slow or not allso makes a difference. If you want to run a fast boat you will need a fast propeller. so on those motors you could go up to 36mm on a 540 and probably a little higher with 545. if you want a slow propeller like on a trawler or tug you can go even further in prop diameter as long as you done go too fast to overwork the motor. 545's are usually used on the slower boats like tugs etc, but i recently learnt thats its possible to use these on fast boats too. graupner usually class there motors by 500 and 600 etc. I think if you had two speed 600 graupners or equivalent with two 36mm 2 blade props you will be on a good plane. i have one one graupner speed 600 8.4 with a 36mm prop and i get 10-15mph.

I personally would try those tamiya motors and cheap props just to experiment with. at the end of the day itl cost you around a tenner for all the parts and if it doesnt work then its not no great loss.

if you look on the auction parts you can pick up 2 27 turn tamiya mabuchi motors for a couple of quid. Most of them are brand not used because there taken out the rc car kits for faster motors, but for boats ones mans rubbish is another mans treasure you could say.
