talking to a dutch captain today and he thinks that in the not far distance future we will see ships of a modern day clyde puffer much larger that can unload cargo up rivers and around islands without docks and self unload much cheaper than hgv larger payload lo cost fuel comments please slug

Its an interesting idea.But exactly how would they unload? Manpower is expensive.No doubt there are some quays that could be used.But off an island? Or using mudflats. Id like to know how the captain thought that unloading would occur.Then there is the question of boats having to wait for the tide,adding to costs.John.
