Don't think that tape is water resistant to any degree.
Another possible tape to consider is glass-repair tape - this is designed for outdoors, and is normally considered 'weather proof', having a high degree of water resistance and UV resistance.

Yes that's the one, I have been using it on my FE boats for the last four years without any problems, it don't take any paint off what so ever. The only thing you need is to make sure the surface does not have any grease on it and is resonably dry.

If you ask the FE racers in the SWAMBC series they mostly use sellotape or the 3M stuff, ( that's where I got the idea from). Providing you press it down so there is no crease or gap for the water go get underneath it will last longer than the batteries willl.

Hope this helps

Of course, DOH! Its fablon, aka stickyback plastic.

I should have remembered, I used it on 1m yachts until I sold them off a few years ago.

Thanks for the reminder.

I use Diamond sellotape, which is waterproof, very clear and doesn't affect the paint. Also come in rolls and is easy to apply ie no backing to remove.

Cheers

Hi all,
As Dougal99, I use Diamond tape. I found that electrical tape was not as good in the winter.
I can't agree with Dougal99 about it not affecting the paint though. It removed a large strip of paint from one of my boats when it was being removed. (probably because I don't do enough prepping before applying the paint though)
I now make sure that I paint round and over all edges when I spray so the tape does not stick to a paint edge.(If that makes sence) HIGH DOUG, C U NEXT YEAR
