charging a TX planet etc
« on: November 07, 2011, 04:18:45 pm »

One of the guys at the Goole club (Harold) asked me about charging his spektrum TX from a TX charger but using the reciever charger lead.
The idea is to make up a lead with a jack plug for the TX and a female socket wired together (in the right polarity) this is then plugged into the RX charger lead and then the TX socket ,
The idea is that the rx charges a standard 4 cell pack and the spektrum /planet is powered by 4 cells , making it a plug and charge setup .
What do the electric gurus think (Dave).

Not a problem if the batts are NiMH or Nicad
Just remember when making up the lead that Spektrum TX's are Negative Centre Pin on the DC Socket
I would also use a Delta Peak Charger which knows when to stop charging

Cheers Ned , thats just what i was thinking .
But the delta peak , now that's an added bonus it would save cooking the bat's in the charger .
The bat polarity shouldn't be a prob as i mentioned to Harold about either making a dedicated lead for each TX  (named)
or using one of those twin pin type leads so the polrity can be changed to suit the TX .
