It'll soon be maiden voyage time at this rate! Perhaps we'll see her at Wicksteed next year? Keep up the good work, Dave.  :-))

Cheers Dave.  oh it is lovely to have the parts marked out for one.   8)   Can't praise Model Slipway gear enough, and it all fits as well.

I counted out 24 extremely tiny metal parts to attach to the tops of the petrol storage containers and when I fitted them, there was one missing !!!  Now how did that happen. Can't find it anywhere.  Hey Ho.  More fun tomorrow.

The boat & build is beautiful Ken. I wish it was still available I for one would buy it in the blink of an eye. I would still like to build it though, I have no experience with scratch building. If anybody has a suggestion my ears are wide open, PM me. I don't want to hijack Kens terrific thread. Keep it going Ken. I will be watching with much interest. Mick B.

My favourite job ....  Paint spraying.  Covers a multitude of sins.   :}

All the little boxes and extras have been covered in red oxide spray paint

I had an old tin of dark blue which I thought might look the job on the container.

The first top coat of White was then applied, and left in the sun to evaporate the fumes. This will be left now for two days to let the paint cure, and then we will apply a final top coat.

Then it was on the the terrifying job.   Cutting the Hull for the lift up door and loading ramp.

A cut was made inside the line , with a Dremmel mini circular saw, and the the edges were filed down to bring it to the line. This was done gently as there was a risk of fracturing the gel coat and if we got it wrong, then the Hull would be damaged. Luckily, we got away with it and it fits nice.

A piece of 2mm plastic was shaped to fit the gap. We have now come indoors to work out how to do the rest !!  :}

As an aside, here is a little device I've made to ensure bits of Plastic glued together stay at 90 degrees whilst drying.  Very handy when making little boxes etc.   :-))

Great to see you're maintaining your usual high standard of modelling. Lucky with the weather today!

I'm sure it's a silly question but why does your magic device have a piece of wood on top?

Thank you mike.

The aluminium heat sink has it's fins nailed through the wood into a cut down cupboard door which was covered in melamine. The wood runs along the top of the fins making for an unmoveable wall.

The angle is exactly 90 degrees and the parts can be pushed up tight and held for the first 5 seconds of glueing.  Inside corners can be glued using the acute edge of the wall and around the side.

Sometimes the 'Plastiweld' runs through the gap and sticks the whole lot to the aluminium. When dry, I find it cracks apart easy with a dulled kitchen knife down the back.   :}  All in all, a great little unit.

Ken

All is explained! I thought it was a solid chunk of aluminium.

I usually use a try sguare covered with Clingfilm or Sellotape and held down with masking tape. If I had any common sense, like you, I would make something permanent!

Yes, it's solid.  Gotta start with a good right angle and everything falls into place.

With this Model Slipway pre-marked out 1mm plastic it's noticeable when you join to the edge or place it on top of the edge and make a box. Get one the wrong way around and it goes out of square.   ;)   i do like making little boxes.   {-)

Today I worked on the opening side hatch. I have the aperture cut out and boxed in.  The rear deck and the front cabin have been epoxied down. I'm leaving the centre deck loose at the moment because the access through would be making working inside a little difficult.

Here's a few pictures of the under-coated parts loosely fitted around the boat to get a general impression.

yes .... the paint did come off when I removed the tape.  Either it's good tape or a rubbish spray job. {-)

Gonna need sanding down to make a good adhesion methinks.

Here's a close up on the hatch, and a few around the decks.

Finaly for today, heres a view around the stern.  I've added a few cardboard containers that I've made  (from the web) but probably won't use them.
