Hi Dave,

I'm using the car paints from Halfords.  I shall be returning tomorrow as the blue is running out and I thought I might get some decent grey. Unfortunately I haven't seen a light grey car so don't know if they do this colour. The grey I had was faulty because it came from a cheap shop. You only get what you pay for , I guess.

                        :embarrassed:

Thank you 110samec.  I was quite surprised by the pleasant result. Isn't it nice when it goes right. One success can overdo loads of failures. ;)

Looking good.

Its sad that MS have withdrawn a number of kits such as Conserver, Drumbeat and Gry over the years. I find it difficult to believe that other kits such as puffer, drifter & Vliestroom outsold them (or perhaps they did!).

Your right there Dave. Good preparation was all that was called for.. Painted like a dream. I'll get the colour name from which car tomorrow.

Thank you again for the advice.    :-))

LOL! I know what you mean Ken! When I was building the MSW Envoy, I got similar comments from SWMBO about it being on the breakfast table for so long. I mean, its not like we dont have another larger table to eat off!  :-))

Now able to to return to the workshop. I've been quietly spraying the decks with a nice light brown I've found in 'Halfords'

I've also darkened the hatch doors and fitted them with nuts and bolts, ready for hinging with servos. (if they ever arrive from China ?!.  Paid for 6 weeks ago, but no sign yet)

The pivoting side door re painted smooth  (paint run noticed so further sanding  mmhph!!) and a new Bow rail secured with superglue.

Today I put the ridge around the cabin and have been busy (in the sunshine ??) spraying up more bits. I let them dry for half an hour (and get rid of the smell) then brought them in to the warm.

No getting past you Richard.   :}   One of my fluorescents is out and I forgot to tidy up.

The servos finally arrived from China so I'm looking forward to a life of 'Automation' on her. Gonna need 12 channels on the radio.  mmm!!

Went out to the workshop today as it seemed a little warmer and the bones weren't creaking so much.

It's strange when you come back to something you've built and see it through the eyes of a stranger.  That looks wrong and this ain't right, you say to yourself.  Well,  I though the painting on rear deck looked a bit blotchy by the containers so, I decided to remove the glued down boxes.

Big mistake ......  They ripped the floor underneath so I've had to make a new rear deck.  :embarrassed:    This has taken a long time to get right and it's yet to be painted.  Wish I'd stayed in the warm house now.

Upon seeing these pictures, I've realised the hole in the rear deck is rather large.

I've now cut deck number three   %)    to accommodate the rear container as a lift off lid. I've under-coated and top coated in a dark brown this time.  (all sanded nice and smooth and clean, Dave.  :-)) )

The side boxes were sanded down again as they were difficult to paint in situ, so these have been primed ready for spraying again.  Must say, I feel better about the effect now, so here's a few pictures.

Tomorrow we start on the motors and controls.  Brass Props on order.

Hi Kenny, you sure do your builds in a hurry. I really like this particular model, it is a pity that Model Slipway quit making their kit. The new paint looks much better now. Mick B.

Cheers Mick.

Working on the fitting the motors today. I hate it when the deck is on.  It's like trying to wall paper the hall through the letter box.   :}

Sorry for the long delay.   :}   Will continue soon.

I have been under instructions to spring clean ???   and get rid of  'stuff'  I've been hoarding all my life to make for a more relaxing retirement.

My good lady has the theory that if it's gone then I can't think about it and will have a clearer mind. I suppose I must have 'scrapped' stuff that would make someone weep, but I couldn't find them to let them know ??

I did find more boat kits in the loft so there's not going to be a dull moment this year.   8)

There's no hope for me then I've just been through an 'Spring Clean' ..well for me here more like a 'Autum clean :-) and I still have at least 35 years to retire! Dare I ask what 'things' you have scrapped?? Do I want to know without cringing? ;)
