Dare I ask what 'things' you have scrapped?? Do I want to know without cringing? ;)

Hi Mike,

I was an Electronic Organ & Piano engineer for 30 years. I had a workshop full of components collected over the years. Thousands of resistors and capacitors and switches and wires etc, etc. Not forgetting spare keys for most of the makes of electronic keyboards.

When I took them to the tip, it was a clean freshly emptied skip and they covered the complete floor and made a racket being dumped. The  'Tip man' came over and shouted " no business waste here ".  By then it was to late so I got away with it. Then it was the turn of the circuit diagrams into the paper waste. That hurt as it was a lifetimes knowledge gone.

I am now officially a retired old grump.  {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)

We are back in the workshop  %)      The boat is such a mess since we left her that  a clean up was needed and a respray.

The white was re-done and today we covered that,  ready for the Blue.  Upon using the rattle can the button snapped off and blue paint went everywhere.  mmph!!!   I used the cover to collect the spurting paint  (outside in the garden) and held it there until all the gas was gone.  Our patio is now flecked a strange shade, much to the non amusement of 'er indoors'.  Not sure what to do with it. Perhaps by tomorrow it will all have evaporated away.   %) %) %)

I decided to get on with the mast and this turned out quite nice. It was a pleasure to get back into it.  I decided not to bother wiring up any mast lights as it would have been very labour intensive and a delicate operation.  Have to concentrate on electric hatches and crane.

The new Blue has been sprayed on and the cabin roof darkened. When it's thoroughly dried we can finish of the red base.

Couldn't resist putting all the sub assemblies on to see how it's shaping up.

I think you will find Ken that a lot of us suffer from these same urges, seems to be a common sympton of the modeller ;)

The new paint job looks really good.  :-))

Thank you Michael.  It sort of gives us inspiration to carry on when the parts are ready to fit.

I still have not fixed down the deck as I want to get the below decks stuff fitted first. (makes life easier!!)  Tomorrow I'll try out the motors. The battery is on charge. 8)

What I really like about making model ships is that you become just like a mini shipyard, testing motors prefabricating parts etc..final trials,
fixing problems..  it's just wonderful.

I must say that I do like the Gry Maritha if Modelslipway was still making it then I definitely would have got it.
Ken what type of paints are you using for your model? Are you still Airbrushing?

Oh yes.  I use the car aerosol spray paints from Halfords car shops.

I must be on my 50th tin by now.  {-)    even though I have a compressor and all the guns.  Never got around to the messy mixing stage, as it's still unused.

Cheers guys.  Yes, I shall be looking after the paint work from now on.   :}

I read a tip on this illustrious site and it works lovely.  Use   "T cut"   on your sprayed surface and it removes those tiny droplets you get sometimes and smooths the surface like a Billiard table.  O0

Sometimes you have to spray downwards, rather than level and the odd drop of paint drips out.

Here's a picture of the dance floor.

The Blue ridge has been finished off and then I started fitting the sub assemblies into the bow section.

First there are the rope winches and then we made up the anchor winch assembly and sprayed it with undercoat and then a nice blue.

Notice the projecting walkway and ladder. An extra piece had to be cut and formed to make this.  It would have been nice if I had spotted this 'extra when I cut the top deck !!  as I could have made a firmer design all from one sheet of plastic.  Lets hope no-one pushes on it too hard.   %)

Cheers Jon.

Yesterday I spent most of my time making and  "trying"  to fit the mast hoops.  Ho Hum.  1mm rod bent around a tube and cut to circles. Spring apart to clip into mast sides and solder supporting vertical rods.

Story ends after 3 hours with mast damaged. radars on floor. supports broken off. Solder blobs in wrong places and 3 secs away from stepping on it.  Must try harder.  Now getting up the courage to go in today.  <:(

With a spring in my step,  I galloped on.

I've started fitting the deck furniture, so here is a montage of some close ups.  (warts and all)
