kyosho fortune model 612 ii - sail servo uprgrade
« on: November 16, 2011, 04:23:03 am »

 Hi
I have a kyosho fortune 612 ii r/c yacht. It has a kyosho standard perfex digital proportional control system with a kyosho perfex sail servo model ks101 standard servo. This ks101 servo requires 4.8V or 6V and torque output is 3.2 kg-cm and the size is 40.4*19.8*36 mm.

I would like to upgrade this servo to one with more torque and with the same voltage requirement and similar size - preferably same external dimensions. Note I want to stay with the servo and not go to a winch. Has anyone any advice? Its a small yacht model only 612mm length overall - I think thats roughly 24 inches

thanks Richardr

Ps have fitted new hatch covers b'cos the originals leak like the proverbial. Made new covers ( 2mm polycarb sheet with high density foam gaskets plus layer silicone grease) and fitted new hatch fasteners ( machine screws and wing nut fasteners).
PPs down here in New Zealand , home of the Webb Ellis Cup, we sail in fairly rough water.

Have a look here:

http://www.servodatabase.com/servos/all

and decide what you want, and can get in NZ

I would go for at least 6Kg/cm

Edward.

Check the dimensions of the servo if you can. There are some more powerful servos in the same size case as a standard servo.

Check the RCNZ website once you've worked out what servo you want. They are a lot cheaper than any walk in hobby shop (especially the ones here in Auckland) and the service is great. They are based in Christchurch but charge a flat fee of $5 to post anywhere in NZ regardless of the order size which is pretty cheap.

Where abouts are you and where do you sail?

Richardr

It would help a lot if you modify your profile to show your location.
That way people can give you more targeted advice. Currently you are getting advice from China, and NZ.
More people are likely to respond if they know you can help.
