Seaking 60amp problems
« on: March 07, 2012, 04:11:23 pm »

I seem to be having some teething troubles with one of my speed controllers, there are two fitted, one works fine but the other seems to slowly "grind" and then stops, I have tried the different settings percentage wise to no avail, am I doing something wrong in the set-up or is it kaput?

Thanks for any help

To answer this question, we would need more info on type of boat, type of brushless motors and how you have wired the two speedo's to the rest of the setup? Also what type of batteries Ni-Mh or Li-Po's..

I think more relevant than what type of boat it is?? (not sure what this has to do with the problem {:-{ ), are;

1. which ESC
2. which motor
3. what voltage
4. what connections to the Rx

Hi Alan,
Yes both speed controllers set up the same, both running off same battery, 12v lead acid. The esc was working fine last time the boat was out, I have tried it in forward only and forward/reverse mode but still the same..

Try this, I've had an ESC do a similar thing, it turned out to be some dirt/water on the circuit board that was interfering with the signals. I washed and scrubbed the esc with some contact cleaner and an old toothbrush around the IC's, the ESC ran flawlessly again for a while (until I gave it a permanent bath) :embarrassed:

I've also had good ESC's  do a similar thing with a dud motor (partially shorted winding) but you have eliminated the motor by swapping components I read.
