I finally managed to get to the pond to test out the rudder and do a little filming. I'm afraid that the video clip is just a short one today, without the 'violent' maneuvers that I had been planning, suffice to say, that the turning radius has vastly improved from the previous barndoor rudder. Her reverse steering however is still a bit suspect,as it takes a while to respond, but I can live with that.

The other little boat that you'll see in the video is a Toys 'R' Us special, which runs on just 4xAA batteries. Fortunately,I'm running on 2.4GHz so it didn't get wiped out signalwise.

Hi Dread.

Have you changed the Motor supplied, and what Battery pack are you using.?.

Yes,I used a 380 motor rather than the kit one,and I'm powering it with 4x3700mAh sub'C' NiMH batteries, which give her around an hours worth of sailing time. I may in the future change the motor to a 385,which will allow me to use a far greater choice of props than just the 25mm one that's fitted to her at the moment.

Well,it's been a while since I posted anything up about the wee Midas,so I thought that I'd let you know about todays outing.

The 6th Annual Scottish tug-towing Champs were on today at Glasgow Richmond MBC and I thought for a laugh that I'd try out this solo-tow game.  The tows are selected based upon the size of the model, which in my case was a barge, that had to be maneuvered around a rather tricky in places course. Now,as most of you are aware, this boat doesn't have what one would normally consider as having the best drivetrain for doing this sort of work. Anyway,to cut a long story short, after completing the course,I found out that I had scored 93/100,not too bad for my first ever go at this is it? :-))

Pics to follow.

I'm glad that you liked the build Dan,this is the reason that we do these build threads. If you decide to try one of these yourself, and run into trouble,I'll do my best to help you out.

David.
