Monoperm Specials
« on: November 25, 2011, 03:36:42 pm »

Afternoon all, a long long time ago (well mid 1970's) my Dad built a Graupner Commodore with twin 6V Monoperm Special motors (grey in colour with red reversing levers on top) controlled from a servo pushing micro switches, so you only get full ahead or all stop. My question is can these motors be controlled from an ESC ? Also does anyone know what ampage these draw under load(currently driving 30mm diameter propellers) and using a 6v lead acid battery ?

thanks

They can be controlled by an Esc, and can only draw a maximum claimed amperage of 3 amps, any more and I presume they melt....

If the props are plastic they will draw about 1 amp depending how tight the shaft is.
A 6 volt Momoperm Super will spin at about 5000 rpm in air on 6 Volts.

1 amp sounds about right, had one on a pile box driving a 60mm prop, and I think I only charged the 10 amp batteries once the entire time I owned the boat....
