The Boissevain I think?

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Boissevain_(ship,_1947) wartime photos
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1450838 awaiting scrapping
http://www.viweb.freehosting.net/JanChang.htm appears on a Mauritias stamp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bMNY5BqiHE           Nice that someone took time to put this together
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7722_yGTjU&feature=related     Long but some nice period footage later on

If correct I will pass on taking a turn.

I have to go to Leeds in a few minutes and don't want to hold the game up

Absolutely correct Norseman,  The Boissevain was a Dutch cruiseliner designed for over 800.  In 1943 she sailed from Liverpool and joined a WS convoy to deliver my Father and the 2 Bn Sherwood Foresters in North Africa.

Isn't that TAI AN KOU rather than TAI ANKOU Xtian?
Either way it's yours.

There was a very similar ship called the Casablanca but I think that went to the Ukraine.  If this is her then she was re-named the Caledonia?

Yep Tail UK you are right

Her name is Caledonia and I said wrongly scottish as in fact she received this name when she was in New Caledonia (French territory in South Pacific) and there, people are so "lazy"  that they are taliking about Calédonie instead of Nouvelle Calédonie and Caledonian instead of New Caledonian ... I was always "shocked" when I was there as for me Caledonia is part of Scotland  !!!    In New Zealand nobody cut and speak as Zealand  !

So her name was Caledonia instead of New Caledonia, her previous name Président Yeiwéné was the name of a Kanak independentist leader there.

She's used now mainly between Istanbul and Ukraine

Your turn TailUK  :-))

The nurse is Violet Jessop who was a VAD nurse during the First War.

She was on the Britannic when she was mined therefore I presume you want the Olympic, Titanic as well, which is being greedy but never mind eh.

Got it! The lady was aboard the Olympic when she collided with HMS Hawke, the Titanic when she collided with an iceberg and the Britanic when she collided with a mine.  The lady's name was indeed Violet Jessup (although she was known to The White Star Line as "The Jynx").

An urban myth states that after surviving the Britanic, Miss Jessup would no longer be allowed to be carried aboard White Star ships.  I don't know if this is true but you couldn't blame them if they had.

The whole would be far to obvious so you will have to make do with this:

The more i look at this the more I see a ferry!  The double Hawse-pipe is a little odd as they don't match.  I'm thinking something like the old Isle of Man ferries but I also don't think that's right.
The only one I know of in preservation is Manxman but it's not her.  I'm going to need another clue I'm afraid.

No, not IOM vessel nor liner of any sort but a tanker? Certainly, single skin though, but still in use, for a while at least.
