Time to connect all those lights up, so out with the soldering iron, it looks a mess, well it is a mess really, but I think it will work. Lighting will be controlled with a 4way latching switcher.

1. Running lights and wheelhouse lights.

2. Green over White trawl lights.

3. Work lights and search light

4. Radar

All the lights come to 0.94 amps

The lights look better than in the photo, something to do with the flash me thinks

Right, I've made a start on the railings for the raised foredeck, they are made out of brazing rod for the upright with brass tube soldered to the top, to allow some aluminium welding rod to run through, where the upright goes into the deck there will be a brass washer, well thats the plan.

First pic shows one ready to be soldered, the second shows three that have been completed.

Most of the rails finished and sat in position, there is still a railing to go on the Stbd side and then they will be given a coat of etching primer and painted white

Thanks randy  :-))

One can get a bit fed up of making railings, can't one, nearly as bad as cutting out windows. So I have had a go at making the slave pot hauler.

It's made out of brass tube the main upright swivels on the base. I will paint it so that it looks like galvanised steel tube, it's stuck in position with a bit of blue-tack for now.

Every thing has been taken off the decks, the decks have been given a light sanding and another coat of sealer applied, then gone over again with 1200 wet and dry and finally polished, this has produced a nice matt smooth finish.

I have also fitted the stiffener on the inside of the gunwale, the fenders can be hung from these.

All the railings have been painted now and fitted, thank goodness for that, just need to get some rust on them now as they look to clean.

Thought I would have a go at the pot hauler block today as it was too wet to dig at the allotments, the first one ended up in the bin, then spent an hour or two taking two printers and a scanner to bits.

Then I had another go at the block, the first pic shows the bits and the others show it painted and in position.

Today I have made the trawling cones, the top one can be raised and lowered through a pulley and then tied off at the bottom of the mast.

I have made and fitted two working mushroom vents and a whip aerial .

There are quite a lot of lights in the wheelhouse so the vents will help to get rid of some of the heat

Hi Alan

The trawling cones are a nice detail addition,
and thanks to Mayhem's night school I actually
knew what they were for this time  O0 {-)

So putting off the rigging blocks yet again I have had a go at the pot hauling gear. I think I will paint the back plate to look like galvo steel and leave the rest as it is.
So tomorrow all being well it will be painted and fitted to the wheelhouse.

Pot hauler gear put together, painted and bolted in place, might have to mucky up that Orange rope a bit.

After being banned out of the workshop over Christmas and then banned again cos I had man flue I have managed to get back to the build.

So I have started to make the rigging blocks for the mast and boom, bellow are a few pics of them, the hook is carved out of a piece of lead, the rest is all brass.

Fantastic, but I have a problem with it, Alan.

I think you are being economical with the truth, this IS a full size boat? Right?

Cos ir bruddy looks like one with all that detail.

The pulley blocks for the mast and boom are finished and fitted, plus a double one at the bottom of the boom. I had a bit of trouble with the rope (string) it had a mind of it's own, so it was soaked in hot water, fitted and bits of lead put on the hooks.

I have also made a small electric winch to work the hooks on the boom

A few more bits done, the lifebelt was one of those with plastic rope around it and didn't look right, so the plastic rope was cut off and flats filed at these points, small pieces of plastic tube cut and flats filed on these, then said plastic tube superglued to the lifebelt, filler used to marry the bits of tube to the lifebelt and then painted. When dry the rope was threaded through the bits of tube, in my opinion it looks better. Brackets where then made to hold the lifebelts.

Mounting brackets made for the axes, also rungs made for the port side to gain access to the raised forward deck.

I have made a start on the otter boards, a piece of brass was given a coat of matt black to make marking out easier, after marking out holes were drilled to get the abrafile in, for those that don’t know what a abrafile is, it is shown on the third photo with the clips that you fit it to the hacksaw with.

The otter boards were cut out in pairs and then filed to the marks in pairs.

As the boards will be fitted with Oak, the trick will be getting them to just and saw to sink, otherwise the trawl net will be floating on the top of the pond.

Looking really good Alan. But I think you have a lot to do to make it look like the boat in the picture under your log in name! :}

Here are my efforts at the 4 blocks that will take the trawl wires, two on the frame above the winch and two on the A frame above the trawl boards.

This was my first go at silver soldering (think the paraffin blow lamp is a bit big though) but it worked out OK
