Any Clubs near Bicester (Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire)
« on: January 11, 2012, 02:25:12 pm »

Hi all,

As it say's on the tin, are there any clubs nearby, have been trying to get in touch with Leighton Buzzard Club - but they seem to have "jumped ship" so to speak.

Many Thanks

Thanks Guy & Timo,

Yes Watermead might be an option, not too far from me and know where the lake is, Black Park I know very well originating from Slough and spending many Sunday's over there with my Grandad with his Fairmile B - which I have now inherited  :-) . Slowly rennovating but will be there soon. I think i will have to take her back there for old times sake - Is the old board still there ??

And yes Timo, finding help from like minded modellers and info, parts is easy I feel....finding a lake or club seems near on impossible !!

Leighton Buzzard Club sailing at Bletchley Park would have been ideal but seem to have dissappeared !!

Hi CJ, I'm just down the road from you near Bicester. I take my boy into Oxford to sail on Sunday's and have the occasional outing to Jubilee lake in Bicester,

Hi Guy,

I should be arround - if you want PM me and can arrange to meet up - will have to return the invite and return to Black Park sometime soon too  :}

Hoping Grub can confirm location and rules and regs for the lake as never been myself - hoping to get finished in the next few weeks so should be ready and I am sure we can find it between us  O0 - but yes more than welcome !!

Trying to find somewhere really local to me so if I have any luck will let you know.

Jubilee lake runs parallel to the A4421 Wretchwick Way, I tend to go into Peregrine way and take the first left into Avocet Way; then the first left again parking near the bin stores there. It's a bit of a mucky lake but suits me and the boy for a quick sail or test as it's easier than driving into Oxford and paying to park >>:-((what type of council charges to park in a kids park?). We'd be up for a get together though, we'll even offer a cuppa as we only live up the road :}.

thanks Grub / CJ

 we are going to be staying near bicester that weekend anyway, my son already asked if we could take his boat or his tamiya buggy to while away the time while we are away for the weekend, so why not his boat

we will get in touch nearer the time but well  up for an hour or two on the water over the weekend- will bring boats / batteries and chargers ! on 2.4 so hopefully no frequency issues - see you both then....

you wont miss me.... 6 ft 3 tall and about 6 ft wide  O0

Not sure as we should be volunteering ourselves for that :-X, seems the kids like to throw all sorts in it >>:-(. Shame really as it's really nicely built and landscaped, it would make a nice place to sail regularly though if it wasn't for the detritus :(( and I've not really got the time to give up to be cleaning it when the gardens on the go O0. Perhaps Colin has {-)

Cleaning out possible model boating areas - now that's just the job for those community service orders.
Half the time the lads report and there is nothing much to do - bored lads just find even more mischief.

 {-) {-) Oh Grub - you do make me laugh....as much as I would love to delve into a shopping trolley lodged lake, I am sure time could be better spent finding a clean one  :}. Had a look round there the other day and see what you mean - it is such a shame  :((

However community service could be the way forward.....maybe if we have enough mayhemers round here a possible boat club could be in order  :}
