Anybody in Queensland who can help?
« on: January 18, 2012, 07:09:35 am »

Hi all

I am due to start a job in Queensland - Australia, a place called Rockhampton, in March/April this year and was wondering if there is anybody on here that is close to there?  I have already spoken to RaaArtyGunner who as been a great help but more info would always be welcome, especially if there is anyone with knowledge of that particular area!

Many thanks

Russ

Ask away.  I'm a  Queenslander, but haven't lived in Rockie.  I'm a water plod so if the job is on the wate I may be able to assist.

Hey Russ,
lucky you ! how long you going for ?
Any chance you want to sell your Tamar to help pay for the trip ? Either myself or a mate might be interested in it if the price is right?

I'm off up that way on Monday. We will be visiting our daughter and son-in-law who live at Blackwater, 200km west of Rockhampton, and they go there regularly as, to them it's only a short drive %) It's quite a big city with a population of about 76,000 people, about 40km from the coast and towns such as Yeppoon and Emu Park. Great Keppel Island is a short boat ride off shore, and is worth a visit. I've been there on a number of occasions, and quite like it, although it can be hot in summer - not surprising as it's right on the Tropic of Capricorn.

Peter, I got a pm, but sounds like you are going to be in a better position to answer the questions.

Russ, I'd fire off the same PM to Peter.

Hi Russ, are you leaving U/K for good & what is going to happen to your Tamar build which I have been following faithfully. Are you taking it with you or are you going to sell it, if the latter I would be very interested. I hope you have a great time & life in Australia. Mick B.
