Walkera Devention DEVO 8 2.4GHz
Has any one had any experience of these transmitters, I am thinking of getting a 2.4GHz set and this has enough channels and a price tag which is in budget for this year.
If there is any one with knowledge then, how reliable are they and can you change the stick modes etc.

Have a look at the DEVO 8 manual which is available at walkera.com . There's a review from alishanmao on youtube too.

The manual says that the stick modes can be changed. Like most computerized TX the DEVO 8 is preprogrammed for aircrafts so that you can't assign all channels freely to the sticks and switches. Another downside from the youtube review is that the display is very hard to read when you are outside in bright conditions.

I would recommend the FlySky TH9X (availabe at giantcod). With the custom firmware er9x it's a real swiss knife for all kind of models. If you need failsafe, simply change the HF module/receiver to FrSky ones. You can add telemetry this way too.

Thanks
I have a 2.4 conversion on my Futaba FX18 but I find it is a pain with the transmitter now not fitting into my carry box and the two Ariel make it look like a home made unit.
Other than that I do get the chance to swap between the 40 M and the 2,4 G options at site but there again I am in a mixed mind being that my Tito has a 40 M rec and decoder fitted and the decoder is almost impossible to get out now so this model will stay on the 40 M
I don't mind carrying two transmitters after all I move three models to the lake each time I go.
I'll look at the FlySky so again thanks for the help.
