Just to let you know, I have today received my etched Crane Jib from Dean's Marine. It is superb,I hope I don't mess it up when I build it.I am doubly pleased, because the attempt I made at making one myself looked terrible, but comparing the two,at least I got my build within 2mm of the Deans one!
I must praise up Deans Marine,as when I phoned them, the friendliness, and the help and advice given freely, was first class. I for one will certainly be buying.g from them again Whoever it was who I spoke to on the 'phone,(sorry I didn't get his name) I would like to say a big thanks!

I am in the process of getting the PE crane and crane base done , they are presently with my etcher. Also I will be PE'ing the Mactaggart 46ft catapult that is currently under development with my computer man. New products coming on stream are 1/72 scale items [ see my shop ] and also 1/96 accommodation ladder fret waiting delivery from my etcher and RN radars

I'm in a similar situation - trying to find drawings of the aircraft cranes fitted to HMS Suffolk and HMS Cumberland in the late 1930s... I have profiles from the Raven & Roberts books but no good plan views or detailled drawings. Any thoughts??

Hi James

Do you happen to know the correct name/model/builder of your crane?
I like searching around on the net and that info would help.

Hi Dave,

I'm guessing that the crane was built by stothert & pitt, as they look similar to the ones on Belfast / other RN cruisers of the same era. No idea what the model/make is - I think only four were built as they seem unique to Suffolk & Cumberland. I did think about e-mailing the builders to see if they have anything in their archives- they are still in business as far as I can see!
Thanks for your help!

just had back the 1/96 RN crane jib and base unit . With a few mods they will now be re-etched and when ready put into my shop. My computer man is now working on the Mactaggart-scott catapult to go with the crane

John,
look forward to seeing the crane when you get it up and running.Although I am very satisfied with the jibs I got from DEANS MARINE,it was only the  jibs,so if yours also has the main body,it would be a good advantage of fatty fingers and thumbs like me.
Cheers,

Had to add the crane base parts ,internal and external ,of which there are many . Should not be long before the whole crane kit is in my shop. This will be the complete kit and I will not be selling the jib or base seperately since they will be part of the fret.

Thanks a lot . Being of certain age group , over 65 ,I find this computer business a bit of a struggle except for the things I really need to do . I have a lady in our village that puts things on my site for me while I try to get on with the models

What a lovely looking kit and certainly one that will save time and tears.

I am not looking to do WW2 capital ships at the moment, but when I hopefully do I will certainly need one or two of these.
