Servo direction
« on: January 19, 2012, 08:12:28 pm »

The 2 servos in the centre of the model i need to turn in opposite directions of one channel via a y lead. Is it just a case of reversing the one plug or will this damage the servo.

You could do with a reversing Y-lead - not 100%, but I think it might be Ripmax that sell them.

Yes, just turning the plug around will kill the servo, (that's if you can get it to fit :-)

Ideally you would use 2 seperate channels and slave on to the other using a mix, (reversing 1 channel in the process), but if you can't do that then you could do with a reversing Y-lead - not 100%, but I think it might be Ripmax that sell them.

You can purchase "in line" servo reversing circuits.

If you wanted to hack the servo, you have to reverse the motor leads, and now a days that
often means de-soldering the motor from a circuit board. Also, you have to reverse the outside leads
to the potentiometer inside.

Is there an over-riding reason why two servos are needed?  It sounds like the two are sited adjacent to each other, and going to be pulling/pushing in the same direction off the same signal, so one servo and a mechanical split would seem more practical.

Hi, I remember when servos could be left or right turning, have they stopped doing that now?

Is it possible to simply move the link to the other side of the sevo so reversing direction? This may also involve altering the throw. John.

Yes but it will clash mechanically (as shown).

Thanks for all the replies had a look at the reversing leads but expensive. After reading replies i think i will go with Johns suggestion My reason for the two together just seemed obvious at the time and then you get blinded by your own line of logic. Again thanks to all.
