Which balance charger?
« on: March 06, 2024, 12:44:58 pm »

I have been having a look at getting into Lithium batteries, and put together a bit of a shortlist of options I have come across mentioned on these forums and similar.

Obviously a lot of it comes down to yours need, AC or DC supply, matching charge rate to pack size and spec, etc. Any thoughts welcome.

...Any thoughts welcome...
*If you get into troubleshooting ebike batteries then search out 10s chargers. They are not common but they do exist.
* If you have spare 5s (19v) laptop chargers they can be modified with one resistor  to spit out a lower voltage.
* don't forget USBc lithium chargers. They would make a useful alternative to the low output 2s/3s chargers. That's if they do 3s.

SkyRC D100neo AC/DC £76  (on back order)
https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/skyrc-d100neo-ac-dc-charger-1355271
- Twin output up to 200W (100W max on AC)
- Supply; DC 10-30v or AC 100-240vac
- 20W USB-C QC3/PD outlet
- Balance current 1A Max
- Colour screen and scroll wheel.
- XT60 connector

Well I have decided to buy a S100, which is basically half a D100 for half the money, plus an even wider DC input voltage ran which should allow it to run off my 6v vintage car to add even more flexibility. Plus its cheaper and I have secured a number of 'nearly new'  6S batteries to run my new model off, rather than using a pair of S3 batteries as the current owner does.

SkyRC S100neo AC/DC £45
https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/skyrc-s100-neo-acdc-charger-1360636
- Single output up to 200W (100W max on AC)- Supply; DC 6-30v or AC 100-240vac- Charge currently up to 12A
- Discharge up to 2A Max 20w- Balance current 1A Max
- LiPo/LiFe/LiIon/ LiHV Cells: 1-6S
- NiMH/ NiCd Cells: 1-15S
- Pb Cells: 3-12S
- Colour screen, push buttons only.
- XT60 connector

The little 'credit card size' SkyRC B6 neo chargers, including the one which will run of an 80w PD USB-C supply but as I dont really need the compact size the S100 is more flexible.

Should arrive around the same time as the model and batteries!
