Nearly done now!
This has taken nearly 2 years now, all though I have taken time out to build some model aircraft. Just got to start adding the detailed bits which are all ready to go, then off to the pond with it.

Thanks for the picture of HMS Vega, it's very kind of you too take the time. I am not really much of a model boat person, I normally make model aircraft kit's. If this looks good on the water, then  I will be happy. It should sail ok, it has two electronize speed controllers, two graupner 720 bb motors, 12 amp 12 volt battery, working destroyer sound system, working navigation lights, working fog light and working search light. If it floats, and dosent burst into flames that will be good. once again thank you very much for the interest. I will print this picture off and hang it over my [untidy] work bench.
Thanks
Phil

Hi Dodes. This is the latest photo, I know it still needs quite a bit of painting to do, and handrails fitted, but it should'nt take too long now.
Cheers mate.

Thanks for that. I am so looking forward to seeing her on the water. Still not sure about a few things though! I seem to have a few fittings still in their packets, not sure where they go. Still got this far on my own, sure I can work it out.
Cheers

It looks great to me, I mess my models up as I paint them as I used to paint full size vessels i.e. throw some paint on the deck then srub it on or daub the sides!! Any chance you will be at Wicksteed.

Hi there. I don't think that I will be at Wicksteed. that is over a four hundred mile round trip. I don't drive myself, failed my test in 1979, and never bothered since. The wife drives me everywhere, bless her. Been busy on the destroyer today, done quite a bit of painting and checking that everything is working ok. It should be on the water by mid May. Looking at the weather though, I might have too pack some flares and a flask of coffee! I take it you were in the navy, have you ever been to Lympstone? thats where I work. Chat soon.

Hi Mate, no I was never in the Andrew, but my Dad and elder brother were, my self I worked in the R.M.A.S. for 33years, plus being born and bred in Gillingham Kent, I used to see a lot of Naval ships in and out of Chatham Dockyard and we still had a ocean going navy in those days!!!!!!!

It's taken a while, but should be on the water in a few weeks. Still the hand rails along the sides to buy and fit. The motor launch to add, and the weathering to do, some more rigging. When it's done, and sails ok,  I will probably pull all of the insides out, to put into the next project, not a lot of pennies in the moddeling pot now. Next pic's should be some of it on the water.
Cheers

I forgot to say, a couple of coats of matt varnish over the whole thing, this will make all of the paint scheme blend in together.
ps
Might put the props on too, that will help!

Here they are. I know not many serious model are interested in this, but I am quiet happy with the results so far. Just some rigging to do, fit the hand rails and props, plus the weathering and that's going to be it. Next project will be better, I have learnt from my mistakes.
Cheers all.
Phil

A really nice model Phil but remember less is more when it comes to weathering and can so easily spoil the good work that has gone before
