Colouring varnish
« on: March 31, 2007, 08:45:32 pm »

Hi,

I wondered if anyone has tried colouriing varnish with a drop or two of paint? I thought of this to give a hint of 'golden colour' to varnished wood.

Have you tried   "Wood Stain"   ?? .     Just a thought as it's nice and runny.

Haven't tried it myself.  Might be a chemical reaction   8)

Coloured varnish? doh! never thought of that!!! No, honestly doubt I will be able to buy just the right colour, hence experimenting!

Wont even know what the right colour is until I see it!

If you want a "golden" tint then use exterior or yacht varnish. These contain UV filters which give a more yellowish finish. The more coats, the greater the effect.
