I know it might sound slightly odd but has anyone tried them for waterproofing eg electrics etc?

I believe it has been done. But for most purposes, what you need in a submarine is a rigid container, preferably cylindrical to keep your electrickery tickety-boo.

We always used these items when we ran multi boats back in the 70 & 80s, the fun started when someone started using black shadows, least I think that was them. Nemesis

I think U-33 used them back in the 80's as a form of air bag to inflate as part of a ballast system.

Talking of Condoms does anyone remember the Durex sponsored F1 team whose car returned to the pits with a deflated tyre
. They can make condoms from used tyres....they get 365 in a Goodyear
