PLANET T5
« on: February 12, 2012, 06:08:24 pm »

                     Hi guys,
I visited some pals down at the lake today, and a couple of them mentioned something I didn't know, and haven't come across myself, but wondered A if it is correct, and B if so why?
this is that the newer batch of  Planet 5 receivers, have no reverse on them, and so makes them useless for most boating use. From what I understand, if you buy the radio/receiver Combo, these at the moment still have some of the older receivers, with reverse, but the new batches, do not. Apparently there is also another Planet radio, that these work OK on, but they are a different design. As I have been very slowly converting my boats to 2.4 gig.by buying and just replacing the 27/40 meg receivers, and just having the one radio for all, I am a little amazed and worried if this is the case?
What comments does anyone else have on this subject please (printable of course! lol)

The receiver doesn't have 'reverse'  or a 'forwards' only the speed controller you plug into it does that!

The new receivers have a failsafe position on the throttle channel that shuts down an aircraft speed controller to idle i.e. the equivalent of throttle stick fully back, unfortunately with a boat esc the neutral is in the middle so when the failsafe operates it goes to full reverse !!!

Moral of the story is make sure that you don't loose the signal!!!

And a car esc as well.

Not a problem for the RadioLink T4Us. Yet.

I wonder how long it will be before it becomes a mandatory safety requirement for all radios to do this...?
