Water proofing wood and paint

Hi guys question for ya I'm stuck on my boat my dad said I need to seal the wood with a oil based primer b4 I can paint it so it seals the wood I can buy enamel based primer from good old helfords but would this do the job?

Hi Darren

Don't
use oil based primer it could react with whatever spray cans you use.

Give it a coat of sanding sealer and rub down when dry.

You can then prime it and paint it using Halfords spray cans.
