What type of boat is it?
Race, scale, tug, liner?

Either something bigger or a high torque one.  A boat that big and wide and deep implies a big rudder.  Whatever type of servo, a solid fixing is a good idea.

A normal servo will take care of the throttle side of things but you need a jumbo servo for the rudder or keeping the boat under control may be a problem I use a Hi tec servo digital jobby which cost me around £50.00 at the local hobby shop. Im sure you can get a jumbo servo cheaper if you look round. Now i know there are some very high power servos standard size servos around but i don't know much about them and don't use them. There is a nice big motor and metal gears in a servo then it should be OK to hold a boat that size.
Oh yes I run them on a 6v Rx pack as well so loads of power from the battery's always helps.
Take a look at the BMPRS web site to see if we are racing somewhere near you soon! We are a friendly bunch who are always glad to help out.

Take alook at this http://www.bmprs.co.uk/calendar.html these are the dates for the BMPRS. I think the Maidstone date maybe OMRA Z class chaps. They run very small IC engine offshore boats.
Re comming to have a look and chat with the BMPRS no prob and who knows when you get your boat going you may want to join us for £10.00 and race with us in D class. (petrol engines up to 50cc class)
