Personally been using them for years in model boats and cars.  Available in the UK via CPC / Farnell group - often have bulk discount ordering, i.e. packet of 10 single colour housings and conductors - not expensive, easy to fit (soldering is best) and possible to clip together in many combinations to make wrong connections almost impossible.
