Engineer needed
« on: March 31, 2012, 01:17:57 pm »

Hi,

For a spare hull that I have I decided rather rashley to have it propelled by a moving figure with a single oar over the transom.

As I am mechanically challenged I would like to find someone who is prepared to make the figure and send it to me here in Australia.

A negotiated fee is on offer and I do have the plans.

Regards

Hi.   We have a wonderful RC row boat at our club at Black Park near Pinewood Studios.  Even plays music.
See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Onj0I3Z5NOk   I believe Frank Hollis made the figures out of various doll figure parts to achieve the right scale and articulation.

He also had an incredible Gondola too, although I understand that is not operational now.

when you say a single oar over the stern do you mean like a punter on a gondola or like a canoe?

I think he means sculling Mike.
Single oar in a central notch
in the transom used in a figure
of eight movement with a twist
of the oar at the same time.
I can do it easier than explain it

Check out the yuloh - the chinese way of getting the sculling motion with just a side to side movement.

Hi all,

I know all about sculling  BUT I need someone to make the control unit.

The plan as such means nothing to me.

I am  mechanicaly challenged.

There was one appeared as a freebie plan in a mag waaaaay back.  If I remember right, it was a sculling dinghy using an Action Man as crew, who had been sawn in half with the top half worked by a servo for both power and steering.  Propulsion was achieved by waggling the thumb, steering by ceasing to waggle with the thumb in the right place.  Again, if memory is right, it was called !Happy Harry".

Open another tab, do something else for a while.  The picture services do take their own sweet time.

Hi all,

The photos are ok and its what I need for the hull.

BUT I do need someone to make me the mechanism and build it into a doll figure.
