Thinking ahead to what to build next winter I really fancy a British warship.
At the moment I fancy doing a Nelson/Rodney at around 1/200.
I like this because it has quite a wide beam, decent freeboard for the length of the ship, only two screws, and looks a bit different.
It's also a little out of the ordinary.

What I can't find is any plans, I have the obligatory dodgy Airfix kit and a couple of small drawings but that's all so far.
Can anyone recommend a source for such plans?
I've googled until my mouse is sore but had no luck.

I'm contemplating the nationa maritime museum.
Has anyone had any experience in obtaining plans from them?
(I'd particularly appreciate any info on costs.)

The old Model Boats plans are still available at 1:240th scale which gives a hull length of 35 inches. 89cms. I actually have a copy and you could make a decent stand off scale model from them but not a very detailed one. The catalogue blurb states:

Star Rating: **
A 35.5in. (1:240 scale) model of effective lines suitable for R/C. Although balsa and ply construction makes this model comparatively simple, some previous experience is desirable. Beam 5.5in. Powered by any medium sized electric motors.

If you contact the National Maritime Museum they will tell you what they have, normally more than one plan per ship, and will quote you a price - depending on the scale you want.

Their plans are the authentic ones of the ship, but... they are not cheap. Be prepared to spend £50-£100

nelsons plans cost me £125.00 and that was without the plating expansion plan and rigging plans  (two sheets) but i have to say that they are genuine vickers armstrong plans but god damed expensive >:(         but the end result was worth it

Superb model Brian. I've always had a soft spot for Nelson and Rodney. They were very advanced designs for their time.

I have found a cheap way for plans i am starting a 6ft model of the russian battleship rurik, at at 1/100. the same for the rodney later at any scale i like.
