A quick Question
How safe is it to Parrallel 2 lipo packs to giver better runtime? I know it's been done and suggested on many forums, but I was just wondering of about the safety of doing this
Both packs are exactly the same spec and from the same manufacturer
I'm thinking it would be sensible to balance both packs to be the same voltage.

Normal and quite safe so long as they are, as you say, as near identical as possible. Balancing them is nice, but more important that all cells are balanced (if they are, then the packs will start balanced)

As an experiment I paralleled a fully charged 5000 mah pack with a discharged one, not even a spark when I made the final connection, both batteries ended up the same voltage after a period.
