I am building a kit Sea Nymph and am needing some power. This is my first model boat build and am wondering how many RPMs should I shoot for? Any suggests on motor/kv? I'd like to put a 380 in it. Thanks!

Planning on a 30mm prop and 2s lipos.

30 mm prop for very high speed running about 12000 RPM, 7.4 volts gives a result of around 1600Kv for the motor, a 28 mm diameter outrunner has more than enough power to drive this prop, for a more sedate speed drop down to 1000-1200 Kv motor, around a 20 amp ESC should be more than enough.

For that prop a bell motor would be more appropriate though, something capable of 100 watts or so.

Thank you so much! So if I do an outrunner instead of a 380, how would I go about Mounting it in the boat? I'm not looking for crazy speed since its a cabin cruiser and if I can save some money by getting a smaller motor that would be great!

you can sometimes just use a 380 mount, just check hole spacing or get a cheap watercooled mount.
