2.4g rx & tx
« on: April 11, 2012, 07:58:50 pm »

Some time ago I bought  a second hand 2.4g tx which came complete with five or six receivers, I have two questions .
1. If these have been used for flying aircraft are they still suitable to be used in boats. All receivers have previously been bonded with the tx.
2. Each receiver apart from one comes with another little box which plugs into the side of the rx, what is it and what does it do?

Cheers in advance.

Any photos, particularly of the little box thingy.

Most radio control systems are designed for aircraft and yours should be fine.

What make is the system ?

Hi dicky.
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately due to laptop throwing a hizzy fit I am having to post with my iPad an I have no pics of the equipment on it at the moment.
The system is a turborix fs-ct6a and the receivers all have the same on them. They are all 6 channel and all have a small grey ariel wire .the box thingy is less than half the size of the receiver, have a red, white & black wire that plugs into the receiver and also have a small grey wire which I assume is also an ariel.....
I have plugged this all into one of my models and it seems to be working fine, rudder, sail winch and small motor.
My concern is someone told me that I could not use aircraft receivers in boats but I am not sure what the difference might be.

Cheers again.

Hi no probs at all as they are 2.4 if it was a 35mhz set up then you can not use this frequency.

Hi timo2
Thanks for reply. Kinda wondered if that might be the case. Using them in a boat should not be a problem then.

I am actually in Coventry thought it was on my profile so will have to fix that.
Cheers.

Possibly your friend was thinking about frequency? 35 meg is used for Aircraft only.2.4 is for boats and planes. Most of the sets we use which are 2.4 are plane ones, hence often mixing facilitys that are not needed. Use and enjoy .John.

Cheers for that guys
What kind of range should I expect with 2.4 ?
I bought a Marblehead of eBay a couple of weeks ago and was thinking of fitting it out with the 2.4 ghz

Cheers again.

The extra boxes are probably satelite receivers.  Normally found for additional range.  It enables you to orientate the aerials  in different planes.  If you use the HK compatibles , you can by satellite extensions.
