Help wanted with battery power
« on: April 12, 2012, 02:38:07 pm »

Hi guys, i,m needing some help with my Schnellboot, I have 3 x 7.2 motors fitted, and have 2 x 30amp Electronize speed contr, I have the port/starboard motors running off one contr, and the centre off the other, the Batteries i have are 2 x 3600mah 7.2v,...the boat did have 3 x speed controller with 3 x seperate batts, but one speed contr, was not working, hence the new set up, what I need to know is how to I get longer running time,as i feel that only having 1 x 7.2v batt for 2 of the motors and the other motor has 1 x batt, the drain on the batt that serves the 2 motors will be huge,

Wullie

I know its a Schnellboot, but Hailwood's saying always works:
"The Throttle goes both ways"

You could parallel the 2 packs, so that all three motors draw from the 7.2V 7200mah pack

You could parallel but the way you are at the moment you have a recovery mode if the two outer motors
have used all their run time , a single screw will get you home.

Hi guys,thanks for the help,
as it stands just now, I have the 2 x motors running off the left stick, and the centre motor off the right stick, with the rudder on the right stick,L/R...then the centre stops when i turn L/R, which is fine for me,at the moment,
I only use 2 x motors for normal sailing, and all 3 for a quick burst,
As for my choice of Batteries,
Could I get away with using 1 x 9.6v 4500mah battery to power the port/starboard motors,..and 1 x 8.4v 4500mah to power the centre motor,
btw the boat is a 1/25th scale
furthermore, I,d like to fit a mixer,so that when I,m turning L/R ..the motors are giving me the best combination of power,..1st, of all, would a V,Tail mixer suffice,?????

As a another matter, of interest, the motors in the boat are 3 x Graupner 600FG 7.2 ,s,with a 3.1 ratio gearbox,..they are listed on the GrauPner website as aero motors,, will these be ok, the props are 55mn brass ,Witches Hat type,..long pointy boss,
