Modern US Navy Very Small & Cute Tug
« on: April 25, 2012, 10:55:39 am »

I found this photo on Flickr (thanks to original photographer) of a modern and very cute US Naval Tug. I would be interested to know more about it but can easily see a very attractive small pond model here.

It is, I think, made of aluminium so I am wondering if it is a Chuck's 2512 Their web site www.logbroncs.com appears to have gone & I can't find any pictures.

The lettering on the front of the wheelhouse reads BB-2.

This one is nice looking,  I like it  :-))

I've seen another one but not so pretty. I think these small tug are used to open floating fencing system around US Navy docked ships

(how you publish straight a picture from Flickr to the forum ?  Not just a link like me)

Chuck's did 3 of these small tugs when I looked at their website. The 1910 (19ft) which I think is your pic with the single side window and the 2212 & 2512 (22ft & 25ft I think) which had the two side windows like my photograph and your second one.

Whether you can post a Flickr photo depends on the person who put it there. My photographer permitted download & distribution subject to not changing the photo & acknowledging the source whist yours has forbidden downloading of the photos. I saved the photo to my computer & posted it here whilst you could only post the link. If mine had allowed alteration I would have cropped it a little.

Then I made some search and find this http://www.haig-brown.com/hottips/hotip191.htm    so it looks like the fault is with no "s" at logbronc, anyway with  www.logbronc.com  I have

As I said their web site has gone & I don't know if they are still in business. Any of our American friends know? I gather life has been very tough in the North East Logging Industry. They might, of course, be flourishing, perhaps under a different name, having spread their market.

Looks like it could be this design from Shipco in New Zealand.
