new here and Titanic pictures
« on: June 12, 2012, 08:16:42 am »

Hey all!  This is my first post and glad to be here.  First of all I'm not a machinst, yeah bummer.
I do make custom furniture as a sideline to my job as a steam plant operator. So I understand the
forces that you are dealing with and some of the machinist craft too.  A few years ago I really
got into the steam modles of engines and developed a real fasnination for the way they work and
the craft that goes into them.  Though I couldn't get into it materially or money wise I did start
to comb the web for pictures of steam engines and especially the models and have developed a
very high respect for your craft.  I love the details. I attend the local steam fair here in Adams,
Tn (Thersherman Show) and really enjoy it and taking my grandkids with me too.  They still seem
to enjoy the monkey bars more, but hopefully they'll develop a love for the craft too.
I came across a video, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLndiRu_Gls&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLCE469E397E8E1FBE)
of the port side Titanic engine made by Karl-Friedrich Pohlmann.  It was great, the detail and the size just floored me,
and I was sure there had to be more pictures of this masterpiece out there somewhere.  I have found some,
Robert Hahn's site http://titanic-model.com/db/db-03/hahn.html has pictures and a great article about it.
There's a good pic at great pic at cnczone.com by "Esjaavik"
There's copies of the pics on Photobucket by mcandrew1894.
And I just found three more great pics of it yesterday.  They belong to "steamer68" at RCGroups.com
(http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1575560)

So I was wondering if any of you had any different pictures or info about these models and
Karl-Friedrich Pohlmann and if you'd care to share them.  Thanks!

Regarding Titanic, then there is only one place to go and that is the Titanic forum.
