New Film Prometheus
« on: April 26, 2012, 12:40:49 am »

I might probaly go to see this, if not just to see how they try to sel it as a prequel to Aliens but not directly connected as i felt Aliens never really explained how it all started.

"Conceived as a prequel to Scott's 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, rewrites of Spaihts's script by Lindelof developed a separate story that precedes the events of Alien, but which is not directly connected to the films in the Alien franchise. According to Scott, though the film shares "strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak", and takes place in the same universe, Prometheus will explore its own mythology and ideas."

Throughout the Alien series of movies, the "corporation" has wanted to obtain samples of
the Xenomorph for BioWeapons research. Prometheus trailers show glimpses of the
"space jockey", and his ship, prior to it's discovery by crew of the Nostromo on the "uncharted" planet LV-426.

Prometheus implies that someone, possibly the "corporation" knew about the "derelict ship" on LV-426.
Even in the first movie, Alien,  the android Ash implies that the Nostromo was purposefully diverted to study the Xenomorph.

Mary Shelly's 'Frankenstein' was also titled  'The Modern Prometheus'
and Prometheus Bound'  is a tragedy attributed to Aeschylus. They've
frequently been examined and written about. Now with the release of
'Prometheus' (and its link to the 'Alien' franchise) no doubt the word
count will increase exponentially and a forrest will fall to write it all up.
I'll probably read it too.

It does sound interesting but, the last 10 minutes or so of Prometheus does tie in to the first Alien film so dont understand why the director is trying to make out it doesnt!

Just come back from seeing Prometheus in 3D.
( I've not seen a 3D film before, very impressive. Not totally convinced. It seems best used subtly and sparingly.)

Good film for both Alien fans and those that don't know the Aliens films.
Good film, very clever use of CGI and plot twists.
I won't say anything about the plot ( no spoilers alerts here.... Titanic sinks in the end... sorry!)

Go and see it if you like Science Fiction, if you are of a slightly nervous disposition - pay extra for the sofa you'll need to hide behind!

When you've seen it, I have a couple of plot question for you....
