Are you sitting comfortably then we shall begin...
Purchased (or stole considering the price) a 36" Fibreglass Huntsman kit on Ebay a few weeks back. It cost me almost as much to post to Finland as it did to buy it but even so it was still less than half the price of a new one :).
While waiting for delivery I browsed the usual suspects looking for motors etc
And ended up with this lot
what we have in the picture is:-
200amp watercooled brushless speed controller. Overkill? maybe but it is popular knowledge that Chinese Amps are smaller than European
2x 2650MAH 6S lipos 22.2V 35C Lipo Packs. These will be used together to give 22.2V 5300Mah
Motor C4240 Brushless outrunner 1020KV 660W 9T motor with watercooled mount
12" M4 Propshaft and 3 off 2 bladed Props 35, 40 and 45mm
Box arrived and all was well the plywood was in suprisingly good condition with just a little warping. An hour in the sauna and a night under a couple of tractor batteries and the sheets were straight again.
Less however can be said for the hull :(
The hull has a decided bow in the side. you can see it easily when looking at the hull but its cot so visible in the pictures.
And there are a couple of moulding flaws
Will i be ok to just sand these back and fill? I plan to paint the hull anyway as the white has yellowed a little with age.
I have built the internal bulkhead frames and stringers ready for fitting to the hull but for some reason forgot to take pictures
Tonight I plan to warm the hull and try to get the frames inside and maybe fit the propshat rudder tube and water cooling pickup. (I think this will be one of the times when knowing naughty words in more than one language will be a bonus)
Another daft question springs to mind as I write
This is the watercooling pickup I plan to use
I just want to confirm this needs to be fitted between the rudder and the prop and offest to one side. My question is what side and how far?
More pics land updates later :)
