Excellent, but how did you make it? and what from?
john
Hi John, its a metal box (maplins), I use resistance wire, from an old hair dryer, you have to crimp the battery wires as you cant solder the wire, and insulate the box or wire where the wire goes in and comes out, the wire is coiled inside the box, loft insulation is stuffed inside the coil, and it then sits on a gauze shelf inside the box. The substance to be heated is poured into the exhaust, or funnel, this soaks the insulation, the wire heats up, the circuit is made from my transmitter, a switch on the tx operates a microswitch which makes the circuit. The fan on the front blows the smoke up the funnel/exhaust. It could be proportional via the motor speed, thats a project for another day.
Its trial and error on the bench how long the wire should be, depends how many volts the power source is, and the insulation needs to be very damp, not soaking or it will drown the wire, too dry, it could go on fire, although the insulatioon I have is flame retardant
I have a mini mister which will be far safer and more efficient, but.. I cannot fit a water container in the boat as the mister needs s certain amount of water above it!
