Most modellers go for the gin palace, gambling type of boat, they look very impressive if fitted with lights and sound.
I like to build the not so modelled type of boat, at present I’m thinking the snag boat (“Uncle Sam’s Tooth Pullers“) operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, used along the Mississippi River.
I believe the very early ones were converted stern-wheelers, the cargo type. But later were dedicated boats, side-wheelers with twin bows and sterns designed for ripping out submerged trees and roots. Such as U.S. Snag Boat No. 2, “Heliopolis”.
