Ark Royal (latest version)
« on: April 12, 2007, 06:07:19 pm »

Particularly for Hannah.
This one is built at the same scale as yours (about 8' long) by Jimmy Carter of TMBC (not the peanut king) who is also building "Tirptz"
As "Tirpitz" will be on the water before "Rodney" is completed I fear that "Nelson" will be overwhelmed without the assistance of your "Ark". We need the "Ark" before the 3rd of May this year...but don't rush it, plenty of time...."Bismarck" has not sunk our little "Hood" yet.

Hasn't the 'real' Ark just come back into service after a refit? Looks like the Goalkeeper CIWS system has been fitted at the stern with what looked part of the flight deck removed to accommodate it!

Looked very weird on the pic I saw!

The real Ark has just come back in to service after refit earlier this year, but, that cut out sponson on the stern you are talking about has been there since the early 90s or so, before that it was on the flight deck right aft centre, it used to have a Phallanx on there. If you look at the latest pictures you will also find that Illustrious and Ark, now sport a third mast with the new radar set up that the type 45s are getting. There have been lots of other changes, including a fully plated flight deck right up to the bow, as the powers that be decided that Sea Dart was defunct, question begging, why keep 15 or so type 42s in service untill lately with Sea Dart, where, where their replacements sooner, 6 type 45s??? To replace 15 plus ships????
 Something wrong there me thinks??
 I hope this helps.

Hi Bob, just heard tonight, hot off the press, there will be no more cuts to the navy and they are actually going to put some ships back into service, I wonder why? Could it be Putin??
But, then is there anyone willing to join the RN these days and venture into the abyss of the BILGE? I fear youngsters are too frightened to get crap up their finger nails.

Yes, but those gift bags are something the new recruits can look forward to!   ::)

I long for the days of Nelson & I'm not even British!
