Extra/unusual military activity North Wales.
« on: May 26, 2012, 12:15:39 pm »

Caernarfon/bangor area, I have noticed extra military aircraft activity over last few days.  3 helos in company, not sure what type but same. 2 C31's and a couple of twin tailed fast jets. All below normal treetop height.  I'm not complaining, love it, but anything to do with security for Olympic torch relay on Monday??
Jerry.

Although it's nowhere near you, we had three Chinooks over here last evening flying very low, and this morning there was a Puma (I think?) flying in huge circles over where I live, for about twenty minutes or so.

Jerry,

Are you sure they're C31s??  I thought there was only one still flying and it's used by the US army parachute display team, or do you mean C130??

The twin tailed fast jet's are probably F15s

Over for the olympics, and more than likely stopping off at either Valley or Mona.

A bit of unusual activity in the West of Scotland yesterday too.
Was sitting chatting with a couple of Mod Plod in the car park above Faslane when we were nearly scalped by two VERY low flying Typhoon`s, to say that we cr**ped ourselves was an under statement  :embarrassed:
There was also a Chinook and a what looked like a Puma doing the rounds above the sea lochs.

Mark you're right, I meant c130's. Kinmel I thought they were Merlins but couldn't recall the name. Outfitted with furling probe and Pylons. We're in silhouette so couldn't make out if carrying any stores.

We've had them up here in the Lakes too Jerry. I've happily watched a Hercules fly past below me from the top of Hoad Hill.
They've always done low flying here but only in the last few years have they ceased to deny doing it  {-)

I remember the F4s coming over Brotherswater from the south well low and good luck to them. These F15s if that's what they were blew the head off me beer!!  People who complain about low flying get up my nose. The lower they can fly the more chance of surviving  a sortie. And I've yet to see a horse, cow or sheep even break step when the planes go through my conservatory and I have animals on three sides. They don't half shake the Missus up though!! Teehee.
