This mornings acquisition...
« on: June 10, 2012, 01:01:36 pm »

Finally got my 90 rigger this morning, a Don Pinckert Coyote Daytona Signature, and a Rossi .90 to go with it. A steal at £170 for the pair...

Looking at the hatch with the engine in there, there's not going to be an awful lot of hatch left by the end of it... %)

I know mate, Pete even put brand new bearings down the bottom in it, for £85 you can't go wrong, especially as I know the engine's history :-))

Been a bit busy, the sponson tubes are in, the hatch pegs are in and I've coated both sponsons with a thin layer of epoxy. My drill has been nicked at the moment so will drill out the tube restraints in the tub later.

Time to buy more running gear and yet more servos, should probably buy shares in Savöx %)

Might get quite interesting... %) No worries mate, I'll keep you posted as to what else I'm clearing out...

Been busy again this evening, fitted the sponsons to the tub. Doesn't sound like much, but it was a mammoth task getting everything lined up properly, and my hands have been ripped to sheds...

Well I did say there wouldn't be much left of the hatch, and there isn't %)

Today, I've mounted the engine properly, made all the relevant holes in the hull and hatch, rubbed the whole thing down and primed it. No pictures of the boat just yet, it's still suspended in the garage drying. Here's a little teaser  :-))

Boat has returned from the paint shop (garage), and I've chucked it back together again for now...

After cooking overnight in the autoclave (airing cupboard), this evening I bought and sprayed the Halfords Tool Box Red onto the sponsons and hatch...

Thank you kindly sir :-))

Just ordered a Savöx 1/4 scale servo for the rudder, and a standard for the throttle. Already got the micros for the mixture. Also, from Hong Kong there's the rudder, strut and shaft, along with a few other bits for other projects...

This evening, it was the turn of the gloss black, which will most probably need another coat as one of those damned flying objects has landed in it again.... %)

Stealth 90mph Rigger  ;)

The sponsons and lid are bright red, so you can't miss them, and when driving a rigger all you can see is flying water most of the time anyway....

I'd go for the Thunder Tiger mate, it's slightly geared, so turns a bit bigger prop, and unlike the K&B it doesn't make your ears bleed... Also unlike the OS it doesn't make your wallet bleed %)

Petrol tug? %)

Here's where we are now then, going to rub it down with 1200 and give the whole thing another coat, not 100% happy with it...
