Are you sure some of those guests are not previously active members being shown as guests due to not re registering after the crash???

Mayhem has allways had Guests watching even long before the crash

Bottom line is, there will be members on this forum who lurk and offer nothing towards the site be it comments or help...

they are the same as the guests in my opinion - pointless.

Correct, but I thought the numbers were always the other way round namely, more members viewing, less guests, now it is always the opposite.

Could be some previous members may be waiting to see if the site finaly stabilises, as until recently there were/are some hiccups.

Once burnt twice shy.

While we are on the subject of the crash etc...

I'm actually finding it harder to get onto the site in recent days than ever before. Constant timeouts.

I feel that's a little unfair to many 'quiet' members - not everyone feels confident enough to pipe up on an open forum.
I'll agree with you so far as there must be some great modellers out there who could join in but don't for one reason or another. <:(
But I think we all have to recognise that sometimes a newbie gets off on the wrong foot here and just gets shot down in flames.
Sometimes we could just be more tolerant. And to be honest rivet counters can sometimes get a raw deal too......... and maybe that's
exactly why some good and knowledgeable modellers simply keep quiet?

Don't know why, but I am finding it easier to be a guest, when access is very slow for some strange reason, rather than log on.

often I have run my cache cleaner and then connected to a post via my email notifications -
so on all those occasions I am showing as a guest.

Hey - how come sometimes I see a guest post?

It's not my call and no doubt entails a lot of work but is considering a change of host a step in the right direction.

Reminds me of dealing with ISP's, don't want to know or can't fix it, until you say am moving on then all sorts of offers assistance abound to keep you there.

However while you are paying up, situation normal.

Members who lost status and reregistered after the crash have their previous posts under guest status.
The posts were actually posted by a mayhemmer rather than a guest.
I think

If membership were not free of charge then I think there might be legitimate cause for concern/complaint. As it stands, guests have limited access and only they can change that. Wasn't there something about leading horses to water?

Don't worry about it as it's nice to be popular.   :} :} :}

Guests turn into members when they see what  Mayhem is all about. Keep joining folks, it's well worth it.

(I've just been over to the American RC Groups and they have 1200 guests)

Cheers

I fully agree with your comment ,I for one have had my share of being made to feel out of place and that I don't belong ,So I remain quiet.
