Robbe Sirius R32
« on: June 16, 2012, 09:06:16 am »

Has anyone had any experience of the Robbe Sirius R32 ?
Robbe yachts I have come across seem pretty good sailers.
(Estelle, Smaragd,Comtesse)
It seems to be a good price.

Hi Ned,

The Sirius is a nice beginners model which sails well once it's dialed in properly.
If you want something bigger (bigger sails more like the real thing) wait for the Joysway Focus by Ripmax.

As all sailboats are manufacturered in China these days, they all need some attention to adjust and improve the flaws in construction, maybe changing plastic fitting with metal ones to be able to sail in more than a little puff, same goes for the ropes provided with most kits, replace it by proper stuff so the rigging stays where it's supposed to be and not go overboard on the maiden trip...

I sailed my modified Voyager in today's breeze and without my improvements, she would have gone down today for sure.

Regards, Jan.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to sail my Voyager together with the Sirius of my sailing buddy, we also swapped transmitters so I could have a go with the Sirius.

As you can see in the video, when the Sirius is skippered well, she gives my Voyager a run for her money, specially downwind, as the hullshape of the Sirius allows it to get on the plane.

We picked a weed infested pond, so every once and a while one or more boats were incapacitated with weeds on both keelfin and rudder...

Here's a small video from last sunday:
